Can you direct bill my Health Benefit Plan? Here at Celtic Knots Massage we do not direct bill to your health benefit plan. We do however provide you with a receipt that you can use to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have massage coverage. Some insurance companies require that you have a prescription from your doctor for massage therapy before submitting your claim to be reimbursed. We suggest checking with your provider before your appointment so there will be no delays in processing your claim.
Can I use my massage expense as a tax deduction? Unfortunately you are no longer able to use massage therapy as a deductible medical expense on your income taxes at the end of the year if you live in Alberta. If you are from BC, New Brunswick, NFL, Ontario or PEI it is still eligible.
How far in advance should I book my appointment? It is always recommended that you book your next appointment before you leave the clinic so that you are not disappointed when you can't get it in. As for the duration in between appointments, this will vary depending on what symptoms we are treating you for. On the whole most clients respond well with treatment every 2-4 weeks.
Can anyone receive massage? Anyone can receive massage from infants to the very elderly assuming that they have no underlying medical conditions that contraindicate them from receiving it. If you have a medical condition please be sure to check with your medical professional first to make sure that massage is right for you. Celtic Knots Massage is a home based clinic and is not wheel chair accessible. Our clinic is equipped with a hydraulic table to make accessing the treatment easier for those with disability, severe injury, or post surgery.
Do I have to remove all my clothes for my massage treatment? Not at all! You are more than welcome to undress to the level that is comfortable for you. If you feel more comfortable leaving some clothes on during your treatment your massage therapist can work around/with them. Whatever level of undress you have chosen, remember that always your body will be respected and properly draped the entire time you are receiving treatment.
Does massage therapy hurt? There may be sometimes during the massage that there will be some feelings of discomfort. However a massage should never hurt. Proper communication with your therapist is key. Deep tissue therapy can be intense but if the channels of communication between client and therapist are left open then the therapist has an easier time in reading what is appropriate pressure.
How can I pay for my treatment? We accept cash, cheque or e-transfer as forms of payment.
Is there a cancellation fee? We do have a cancellation/no show fee. Be sure to read our clinic protocol page to find out all about it.
Are you registered? Yes I am a registered member in good standing with the NHPC since 2007.
